Sakura...Sakura....

If you've never been to Japan (or if you have but you'd just love to go back there again), April is the perfect time to go. Not just because the 'sakura' is in bloom, but also because...what else...Linedancing! The Crazy Feet Tokyo Line Dance Festival organised by Hiro Suzuki will be on. Some of you may have met him when he was last here in Malaysia with Yuki Ohashi.

The line dance festival starts April 11 and ends April 13, 2008. Participants can expect lots of workshops and dancing throughout the 3 jam-packed days. There will be local instructors conducting some of the workshops, but Hiro always invites one foreign 'celebrity' instructor to frontline the event. Past heavyweights were Jo Thompson, Roy Hadisubroto, Brian Barakauskas, Michele & Michael Barr, to name a few.

This year, he has invited Judy McDonald from Canada. Judy's the choreographer of great dances, like COOL WHIP. That dance, I'm sure, most of us will remember having done it a couple of years back :-)

Hiro has extended his invitation 'To the line dancers in Malaysia" as he put it. He'd love to have us there, line dancers from different countries dancing side by side. United in one interest though diverse in culture and language. Wonderful thought isn't it.

So seriously folks, if you've got the 'moolah' (we all know Japan is expensive) why not think about heading to the Land of the Rising Sun this April to taste some 'sake', view some 'sakura' and throw in some serious line dancing as well. Once Hiro has got his event website up I'll post it here so you can contact him directly.

Until the next post on this, chew on some photos from his previous festival with Roy Hadisubroto (Little Roy).
