Kick Ball Change

Another step that requires the use of a Ball-Change is a KICK-BALL-CHANGE. This basic step is an amalgamation of a kick followed by a ball change.

Widely used in line dancing, yet it can be a mystery to most beginners. So I've put in 3 video clips to help those having trouble with understanding this very popular step.

Credit and thanks go to Jo Thompson (USA) for the superb instructions.

(1) KICK

(2) BALL CHANGE

(3) KICK-BALL-CHANGE

And that's how we do the Kick-Ball-Change :-)

So let's get a kickin' and a dancin'

Born To Rock - Adventssparken skövde 29 nov 2008

In October 2008, I blogged about my dance Born To Rock being selected as one of the competition dances for the the annual Advents Sparken event in Sweden. That was held in November 29, 2008.

Last night, my Swedish linedance friend sent me a video link for the dance:

It's quite surreal to see one's dance being done at a competition on the other side of the world. I must admit, it sure does feel good though! :-)

My compliments to all the competitors (Great Job!) and Congratulations to the Winners!

Many chinese in Malaysia will be hitting the highways today in the annual exodus back to their respective hometowns to celebrate the Chinese New Year with family and friends.

To all of them I wish them a safe journey.

And to all linedancers celebrating the Chinese New Year, wherever your are....be it in Malaysia or in other parts of the world, I wish all of you

Wildcats in CANADA!

After the pleasant surprise in Orchard Road during christmas, another wonderful surprise came in the form of 2 videos from Canada. The first is from none other than the Line Dance Queen herself, Winnie Yu and her team dancing Wildcats Go! And the other is also by a well-known (to us linedancers) Youtube personality, Teresa.

Check out the vids:

Winnie Yu's team

Teresa's team

My line dance buddy in East Malaysia tells me that the dance is also well received there and is being taught and danced by major groups, although they're not in the habit of posting videos onto Youtube :-)

Wildcats Go! is definitely travelling further than the choreographer. I've never even been to Canada! :-)

Champions!

What a great start to the year for 2 of my friends from Japan.

At the recent Worlds held in Orlando, US, both Yuki Ohashi & Toshiko Kawamoto emerged champions in the respective divisions in which they competed.

Toshiko was Overall Winner for the Showcase which earns her the prestigious title 'Superstar' and the honour and respect that goes with the position.

Yuki beat at least 4 other couples to emerge Grand Champion in the ProAm Couple Open Novice division. She had been training and preparing tirelessly towards this end and I'm ecstatic for her!

Both of them are back from Worlds now. In my email correspondence with them recently, they're still riding the wave of euphoria from their win. And so they should.

BRAVO! Yuki & Toshiko. BRAVO! & CONGRATULATIONS!
